Callcredit
Callcredit is one of four credit reference agencies (known as credit bureaus in the United States) in the UK, the other three agencies are; National Hunter, Equifax and Experian. These reference agencies are responsible for compiling and maintaining up to date credit data and credit histories for individual consumers, this data is collated and turned into individual credit reports.
These credit reports are used by lenders (banks for example) when individuals apply for credit. Rather than manually going through every individuals report and then making a decision based upon this most lenders instead use statistical analysis in the form of credit scorecard to give them a general idea of this individuals credit worthiness.
CallCredit like all reference agencies is govern by the rules and guidelines laid out by the Consumer Credit Act of 1974, they also have to adhere to Data Protection Act of 1998 for all information that is individual identifiable.
